You know how sometimes you start out doing something, and somehow along the way, it kind of morphs into something totally different and even better than you thought? Well…that’s this issue.

We originally had this idea that we wanted this idea to be kind of a “boss babes” issue; something that would feature local women who are getting it done. As we began to look for those women to feature in the issue, we moved away from that focus.

But then, we found ourselves right back where we started, and we have some fantastic ladies for you to read about! They are truly movers and shakers who are doing so much for the community, and setting the bar for how girls run the world.

Our cover feature this issue is on Stacey Grant and her Our Girls Rock, Too! organization, which is teaching young girls to not only believe in themselves, but to believe in and support each other. We are also featuring LeShai Campbell, who together with her husband has founded Restoring the Breach, which is making a difference by bridging the gap between the needs in the community and those who want and need to serve.

One Boro is an organization that you may have heard of, but you may not know the names behind it. We have a story on Dr. April Schueths and the others behind this great organization that is working to make a better future for Statesboro and Bulloch County.

We also have a feature on the Statesboro Service League, an organization unique to Statesboro but one that has been around since the early 1970s, making a difference by serving. Our Everyday Hero this issue is Jessie Smith, who is a nurse practitioner who goes above and beyond the 9-to-5.

So please enjoy this issue. We know you’ll love reading the stories behind these ladies and what they do. And as always, if you know of something or someone we should feature in the magazine, contact us at amorrison@discoveringbulloch.com. We’d love to hear from you!
