Creating art is often a solo endeavor. Artists may collect their materials and spend hours focused on their craft. Yet developing networks and relationships with other artists can be hugely impactful in the creative process. Swapping stories or sharing techniques allows artists to hone their artistry. Art festivals offer a unique opportunity for artists to connect with one another and a local community to build lasting relationships.
The inaugural Statesboro Festival of the Arts is currently seeking artist applications. The ultimate goal of this event is to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive arts community that fosters appreciation and understanding of traditional and contemporary artistic expression. With this in mind, we invite visual artists who work in a range of media categories, from 3-D mediums such as casting to 2-D mediums like painting, to apply for the festival.
The Statesboro Festival of the Arts is proud to have Erin Dunn, curator of modern and contemporary art at Telfair Museums in Savannah, Georgia, as a juror and the judge. We are also pleased to have South Carolina visual artist Christine Patterson as our second juror.
The festival weekend will kick off with an artist reception on Friday, March 21, 2025, which will allow artists to network with one another and the festival organizers. During the reception, the artists will have the opportunity to explore downtown Statesboro and the Averitt Center for the Arts facilities while tasting food from local restaurants. Then, the artists will showcase their work at The Market at Visit Statesboro on Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m.–3 p.m., and Sunday, March 23, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
We hope you’ll apply to the Statesboro Festival of the Arts! Additional details about the festival and application submission requirements can be found here.
